The Decadent Days of Summer

Patio dining and drinking in Central Oregon

Labor Day weekend typically concludes the summer season in Central Oregon. But the temps are hovering around the mid-80's and the evenings are warmer than ever. And although we are approaching the Autumn months, it feels like summertime is going to be sticking around for awhile.

We put together a list for Trailhead Magazine by Visit Central Oregon of the best places to enjoy an outdoor meal or cooling concoction - and our favorites on the menu! Check out the behind-the-scenes photos to allow you to taste them with your eyes, first.

Curb B Q - Brisket Grilled Cheese

Who can resist a slow-cooked brisket sandwich smothered in three types of cheese and slathered in their BBQ sauce? They're located at On Tap where you can choose from over 30 beers, kombuchas, and ciders on tap. Their outdoor lawn is one of our favorite summer hangout spots!

Bend Brewing Co. - Prickly Pear Margarita

We love this admirably-colored margarita for its slightly sweet, enjoyably tart flavor. The best part about it? Enjoying it on the BBC lawn! Play a game of corn hole or simply enjoy the front row views on Mirror Pond.

Scoutpost - Breakfast Sandwich

Cage-free eggs are served on a homemade english muffin. Loaded with crispy bacon, arugula, cheddar cheese, and harissa, this sandwich is best enjoyed on the patio in front of their truck on Galveston or in the Spoken Moto food truck courtyard. Brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday from 9-2 at both locations! Recommendation for drink pairings: Megaphone Coffee cold brew + macadamia milk; Humm hopped grapefruit kombucha at Spoken Moto.

Farmhouse Pies - Everything

In a small, renovated camper at Farmer's Markets, including Northwest Crossing and Downtown, Annie Skelton serves her homemade farm-fresh pies and crumbles.

Summer fruit crisp is one of our favorites, loaded with nectarines, apples, and berries! Follow them on Instagram for updated locations. Pies can also be made to order and picked up right on the farm!

Addy Mac's - Season Flavors Rotating

In a 1963 Ford dairy truck, Addy Mac's serves up homemade ice cream made from local Darigold milk and cream, along with local ingredients for seasonal favorites. Try a staple like peanut butter oreo, or a summertime special like roasted strawberries and buttermilk.

The blue and white truck is located at Spoken Moto daily; they're still frequenting the NWX Farmer's Market and can be found on select weekends at On Tap food truck lot. Be sure to follow them on Instagram for updated locations!

Bend Brewing Co. - BBC Nachos

We couldn't compile our favorite outdoors-enjoyed food and drink without including the nachos from BBC. These chips are piled HIGH with cheddar cheese, black beans, local O-Hana salsa, tomatoes, green onions & sour cream. Add a protein of your choice, including chicken, ground beef, or pork carnitas. Hey, why don't you pair it with a prickly pear margarita while you're at it?

Scoutpost - Donut Holes

These treats are easily the grand finale of our choice delectables - and they can be enjoyed year 'round, everyday! Enjoy these fresh, hot treats (covered in cinnamon and sugar) with a selection of dipping sauces like chocolate, caramel, or pictured here: strawberry-rhubarb.
